News tips
If something is happening and it is not being written about, tell us. Say what you saw, where, and when - and whether you are willing to be named. Nothing sensitive should go in a first email: write, and we will agree on a channel that suits the risk before you send anything further.
Pitches
We commission freelancers in Cairo and across Egypt. Send two or three paragraphs: the story, why it is a story now, who you will talk to, and a couple of links to previous work. We reply to everything, though not always quickly. We pay, and we discuss the fee before you start reporting.
Corrections
Point us at the sentence and tell us what is wrong with it. Errors of fact are fixed as fast as we can confirm them, with a note on the piece saying what changed and when.
Rights and syndication
For permission to republish or translate a piece, to license a photograph, or to talk about a partnership, write with the URL and where you intend to run it.
Before you write
We cannot help with visas, university admissions, tourism bookings or tracing people, and we do not sell links, guest posts or sponsored coverage - those emails go straight to the bin. Everything else is worth sending. What we cover and how we work is the shortest way to know whether your story is one of ours.
