Walk through Umm Kulthum’s Zamalek

Kharita is hosting a guided walking tour through Zamalek on Thursday 1 October, retracing the places and stories of Umm Kulthum, Kawkab El Sharq, the Star of the East.

Umm Kulthum, the most celebrated singer in the Arab world, lived for decades in a villa in Zamalek, on the Nile, until her death in 1975. The house itself was later demolished, but the district remains closely tied to her memory.
