Remembering Sadat this October
From the Sadat Museum to his October Victory speech on Mona El Shazly’s Maakom, the anniversary brings the late president back into view.

In October, Egypt does not only remember the Crossing; it remembers the men who led it.

The Sadat Museum in Cairo preserves the late president’s personal belongings, uniforms and documents, telling the story of the leader who took the decision to go to war on 6 October 1973.
This year, Maakom, hosted by veteran presenter Mona El Shazly, revisited Sadat’s historic speech celebrating the October War victory, letting viewers hear the moment in his own voice.
