Wegz promises to change a lyric after criticism from Sheikh Khaled Zaki
The rapper said he had not known that a phrase in his new song came from a hadith.

Egyptian rapper Wegz has said he will change the lyrics of his new song after the preacher Sheikh Khaled Zaki criticised a line in it.
Replying on Instagram, Wegz said he had not known that the phrase was taken from a hadith, a saying of the Prophet Muhammad. He asked the sheikh to explain the religious ruling on its use so he could understand more, and promised the line would be changed straight away.
“Words that don’t belong in the song will be changed,” he wrote.
Sheikh Khaled Zaki later responded on TikTok, thanking Wegz for accepting the advice. He added that the words of God and of the Prophet deserve reverence and should not be used in songs, Masrawy reported.
Wegz is one of the most popular artists in Egypt’s rap scene, and the exchange drew wide attention online.
