The Times names Egypt among its top winter escapes
An eight-day route from the pyramids to the temples of Upper Egypt makes the British paper’s list of winter destinations.

Egypt has been named by The Times among the ten best places to escape the winter cold, with the British newspaper highlighting an eight-day journey through the country’s landmarks and along the Nile.
The route starts in Cairo, at the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum, before moving south for a Nile cruise through Upper Egypt.
Along the river
From Luxor, the itinerary takes in the Valley of the Kings and the temples of Luxor and Karnak, then continues upriver to the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo.
Winter is Egypt’s high season: between November and February, daytime temperatures in Luxor and Aswan sit comfortably in the twenties, a long way from the summer heat.
